8(a) Business Development Programs

Acuity has been a certified participant of the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) 8(a) Development Program since 2003. SBA development programs are intended to help “level the playing” field to give small businesses some of the same opportunities as larger, more established businesses. The SBA 8(a) BD Program was created to help historically disadvantaged businesses compete in the American economy and access the federal procurement market.
ISO Certifications
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is a non-governmental organization that promulgates standards for processes and procedures to be followed in developing services and products for client deliverables, including the use and application of tools and methodologies.
- ISO 9001:2008 Certification
The ISO 9000 series addresses quality standards, and emphasizes proactive quality assurance in addition to conventional, but more reactive, quality control. Quality assurance enables its practitioners to avoid problems before they occur rather than having to resolve them mid-project, saving both money and time, and making better use of both client and staff resources. Acuity’s dedication to the highest standards of quality is reflected in its achievement and annual renewal of ISO 9001:2008 certification.
- ISO 20000:2006 Certification
ISO 20000 is the international standard for IT service management. ISO 20000 comprises two distinct documents that together form a top-down framework to define the features of service management processes that are essential for the delivery of high quality services: a specification for a service management system and a code of practice.
- ISO 27001:2005 Certification
The ISO 27000 addresses information security standards. These standards provide best practice recommendations on information security management, risk and controls within the context of an overall information security management system.
CMMI Level 2 (next expected certification date: Level 3 by July 2012)
CMMI is a software development process improvement approach that has become the standard for measuring an organization’s capability to apply a process-based methodology to software development. CMMI integrates the entire spectrum of software development, including engineering, testing, and project management. CMMI helps developers integrate traditionally separate organizational functions and set process improvement goals and priorities. It provides guidance for quality processes and a reference point for appraising current processes.
